The HCC recently attended the first FSC Business & Economic Development Advisory Committee meeting which was a successful event with plenty of important discussion. One important agenda item was upcoming changes to dump charges. Whilst we appreciate the need for some forward thinking & maximise lifespan of the site, we would like the focus to be on “out of town businesses” & “project specific waste” rather than locals and local businesses. Read the letter sent from HCC President Les Carter to the Council regarding these changes: HCC letter to FSC 17th August 2024

We appreciate the Council giving businesses a forum & taking our feedback on board- out feedback is being tabled as an agenda item in the next Council meeting. To have your say simply talk to a FSC Councillor or a Chamber of Commerce Exec before the next Council meeting. Additional costs to local businesses are passed on in many ways from home maintenance costs to freight pricing & retail price tags. Let’s focus on the “big end of town” & not locals.
